SingleCut is all about our love for music, and most of our beers are dedicated to our Rock N Roll heroes. Maybe you don’t know Steve Priest’s name, but if you love SingleCut, we bet you love the The Sweet, too.
Like so many iconic Rock bands, the grey skies of London were the backdrop for Sweet’s formation. Originally rocking a lighter bubble-gummy sound, as they hit the mid-70s, they were all in on hard rock Glam, and birthed hits like “Fox On The Run” (it’s in Dazed & Confused, Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2, and covered by… everyone), “Little Willy”, “The Six Teens”, and their massive hit “The Ballroom Blitz” (you know this one… it’s been streamed on Spotify 95m times, in countless movies, commercials, sung by Tia Carrere in Wayne’s World, and sampled in The Beastie Boys’ “Hey Ladies”). The name of the beer, “Are You Ready Steve?”, is the spoken line that opens ‘Blitz, on top of Mick Tucker’s rolling drum beat, and right before total musical chaos ensues.
It’s a classic.
Sadly, Steve passed in 2020, and though we never got to know one of our Rock heroes, we were able to connect with his lovely daughter Maggie, who heard about the beer we’d been brewing in her dad’s honor, and after many years of waiting- were finally able to share this IPA with the Priest family.
